CASANZ 2021

Each year the Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand ( CASANZ ) hosts the International Clean Air and Environment Conference . The event is the only opportunity for the air quality industry to share recent learnings and perspectives .
From 17 – 21 May 2021 , CASANZ 2021 : the 25th International Clean Air and Environment Conference offers an engaging , interactive program with high-profile speakers and global industry leaders . And for the first time the event will be held virtually .
The event will provide an update on the state of science and advancements within the air quality industry , whilst also reviewing Air Quality in Unprecedented Times , taking a closer look at what impacts the bushfires and COVID-19 pandemic has had on humans , societies , the environment and economies .
CASANZ 2021 headline speaker Professor Tim Flannery addresses : The Future of Cities : what ’ s the bigger picture of climate change , where are we now and what is the confluence with air quality ? From the UK , Dr Ben Barratt looks at how ' expert-guided ' citizen science can improve public health . Simon Birkett from Clean
Air London talks us through air pollution and climate change ahead of COP26 . And we are also joined by Andrea Hinwood , Chief Scientist from the UN Environment Program .
Locally , CASANZ fellow Dr Tom Beer and Professor David Karoly provide their thoughts and research on how recent bushfire and climate change events impact air quality . Dr Beer said he is hopeful science , engineering and technology will find solutions to these growing challenges .
The online format opens the conference to many exciting features ; new research and findings through plenary and keynote sessions , paper presentations , networking opportunities at the Air Bar including a chance to take part in ‘ Who wants to be a MillionAir ’, and the chance to explore the interactive exhibitor centre .
All the conference sessions are recorded . For up to six months post-conference , registered delegates can hop back on at any time and catch up by re-watching presentations and handouts .
