STAFF SPOTLIGHT

LLOYD TINNEY

Meet our very own Lloyd Tinney, Green Innovation Specialist from Balwin Properties’ Cape Town office.
On 21 November 2025, Lloyd took on the PT55 at RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town- a demanding ultra-distance race covering 56 kilometres with an impressive 3 000 metres of elevation gain across the breathtaking Cape Peninsula.
“ It was an incredible race overall,” Lloyd reflects.“ To run nearly the entire peninsula, surrounded by some of the best views in the country, was a real privilege.”
Known for its technical terrain and relentless climbs, the PT55 is not for the faint-hearted, and Lloyd’ s experience proved just that.
Every race has its unforgettable moments, and for Lloyd, it came in the final stretch:“ In the last 5km, a brief lapse in concentration saw me tumbling down the side of the mountain. Thankfully, a bush broke my fall! It definitely got the adrenaline going for the finish, but I wouldn’ t recommend it!”
Congratulations to Lloyd on completing this epic challenge, reminding us that perseverance and a good sense of humour can carry you through even the toughest climbs.
Lloyd also completed the Balwin Peninsula Marathon and is set to take on the Balwin False Bay 50 as he builds towards the Comrades Marathon.
Another proud shoutout to our Balwin team members, Kyle and Marno, who took on the 2026 ABSA Cape Epic- one of the world’ s toughest mountain bike stage races. They gave it everything they had, embodying the true Balwin spirit with every pedal stroke.
