WELCOME
MESSAGE FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR
Dear Runners,
Since bringing back the beloved Jeppe Marathon, an event that has seen me through more than a quarter of my life as race director for the last 19 years, I have been through more challenges and victories than I can count. Year after year I come back, learning and growing more. This race would not be what it is without you, the runner, so my first thank you will always be to you.
Balwin Properties brought this event back to life and continues to show incredible commitment to road running by investing in the series and bringing on partners to create exceptional value. I can say with confidence that we offer so much value to you, the runner, and it shows in how many of you have chosen us as your race of choice.
Please note that we have small route changes this year due to construction taking place at the race venue, so keep an eye out for updated route markers and marshal instructions. We hope that you enjoy your experience with us and all the added value that we have included. Please tell your friends who didn’ t enter this year about your experience, and we hope to see them next year as we continue to deliver an even better event.
Balwin Properties has gone above and beyond once again by offering runners the chance to win an apartment worth R1-million at a Balwin development. I would love to have entered, where else can you win a fully furnished home just by entering a race?
To every volunteer, marshal, and club member assisting this weekend, thank you. This event would not be possible without you. No matter how big or small your role, everyone does what they need to do to make our event successful, and I am deeply grateful.
The Jeppe Quondam Club was founded in 1907 and the Athletics Section in 1978. The Club has been a prominent landmark in Bedfordview since 1939, keep a lookout at the 2km mark for the club on your left-hand side. With this great history and tradition, our club will continue to offer a premier race on the Central Gauteng road running calendar for many years to come thanks to our sponsor, Balwin Sport.
Thanks again for selecting the Balwin Sport Jeppe Marathon. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
Enjoy your race and have fun!
Bruce King
