Waterfront Partnership Is Getting People Back On — and In — the Baltimore Harbor
For the past 15 years , Waterfront Partnership ’ s Healthy Harbor Initiative has centered on restoring the environment in the Baltimore Harbor with the goal of achieving a swimmable waterfront .
Through the Great Baltimore Oyster Project , a collaboration with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation , tens of thousands of baby oysters have been raised in the harbor every year since 2013 . There , they filter water and provide habitat for marine life before they are taken to a protected oyster sanctuary .
