Composed of intricately painted baseballs , fiber backgammon sets , statues of athletes and more , Good Sports investigates the dual power of competition to corrupt and inspire . Treating play as a powerful vehicle for self-transformation , the mega-exhibition asks audiences to question their definition of sportsmanship and its application to all aspects of their life .

Fighting to Breathe : Youth Activism and Environmental Justice in Curtis Bay

South Baltimore would be home to the nation ’ s largest trash incinerator — a major pollutant — if a group of youth activists known as the Free Your Voice movement hadn ’ t fought back and convinced city organizations not to support the project . Borrowing its name from a book by Nicole Fabricant , Fighting to Breathe offers a deep dive into these teens and the racial and environmental injustices they ’ ve been combatting for more than a decade .

The Walters Art Museum OPENS MAY 12
For the first time in the Walters ’ history , this new permanent exhibition presents more than 200 works from South , Central and North America and the Caribbean in one contiguous space — the newly renovated North Galleries . Visitors will encounter ancient Latin American ceramics , earthenware , textiles and jewelry , as well as contemporary acquisitions created specifically for the exhibition that explore migration , identity and gender .
TITAN is a journey into the rich , multifaceted life of the museum ’ s namesake , Reginald F . Lewis . The first African American to build a billion-dollar company , Lewis was also a passionate activist , devoted family man , accomplished athlete , skilled lawyer and pioneering trailblazer . As the museum commemorates its 20th anniversary , this exhibit testifies to Lewis ’ s enduring legacy and entrepreneurial spirit that continues to inspire generations .

Black Earth Rising Baltimore Museum of Art MAY 18 – SEPT . 21
Black Earth Rising presents radical artworks by contemporary African diasporic , Latin American and Native American artists that engage with the splendor and fragility of the natural world . Through painting , sculpture , film and more , these artists resist the social and environmental inequalities that resulted from colonialism . This exhibit is part of Turn Again to the Earth , a museum initiative that considers the role of art and museums in the ongoing fight against climate change .
