Aimed at exalting resourcefulness and creative self-reliance over material dependence and excess , Abundance features one-of-a-kind works from over 40 visionary artists that primarily employ nontraditional artistic materials such as glass bottles , aluminum foil and paper plates . In addition to artifacts , the exhibition will also include film excerpts and children ’ s maker stations .

The past few years have seen a renaissance of contemporary Jewish art across mediums alongside new modes of museum engagement and cultural participation . The Jewish Museum of Maryland partnered with the Brooklynbased New Jewish Culture Fellowship ( NJCF ) to bring these innovations and experimentations together under the New Jewish Cultural Festival , a showcase of 40 visual , musical , performative and hybrid works from past and present NJCF creatives . Housed in the museum ’ s 1,800-square-foot Feldman Gallery , the festival celebrates the driving forces behind this resurgence of Jewish art .

A multisensory exhibit featuring 70 objects from visual artists , design houses , streetwear icons and musicians , The Culture tells the story of hip hop ’ s proliferation from radios to runways — and everywhere in between — as well as its influence on contemporary politics and protests .

S ., you can explore the devotional practices , creative spirit and natural landscape of the Asian continent .

Many people know Jim Henson as the revolutionary artist , storyteller and creator of The Muppet Show , which introduced us to beloved icons like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy . But did you know that Henson was a Maryland native who came up with his first show , Sam and Friends , as a freshman at the University of Maryland ? In hosting the traveling 5,000-squarefoot Muppet-filled multimedia show , Imagination Unlimited , the Maryland Center for History & Culture welcomes Henson back home and celebrates his unparalleled body of work , unrelenting curiosity and impact on modern media .
