Some exhibits are housed in the connected Hackerman House , an elaborate Greek Revival townhouse from the mid-1800s . The mansion was once regarded as one of the most elegant in the neighborhood , and it ’ s easy to see why , with its striking spiral staircase , carved wooden bookcases and Tiffany glass skylight .
Next , head to the Govans neighborhood to check out The Senator Theatre . An art deco landmark dating to 1939 , the space was carefully restored in 2010 and still features its original terrazzo flooring , sunburst decor detailing , murals , gold screen curtain , and a “ Walk of Fame ” in the concrete outside the entrance . These days , The Senator screens classic films alongside a small selection of new releases .
For an upscale meal , book a table at the Four Seasons ’ rooftop restaurant The Bygone . A swanky setting with sweeping panoramic views of the Inner Harbor , this restaurant finds inspiration in the glamour of the swinging 1920s with plush velvet seating , gold decorative accents and a menu that pays homage to Golden Age French cuisine .
End your trip to the past with a drink at The Owl Bar , a historic bar dating to 1903 . Once a part of the equally historic Hotel Belvedere , the bar has served F . Scott Fitzgerald , Prince and many other notable figures over the years . The name is an ode to the owl statues that sit above the bar and used to alert patrons to police presence during Prohibition . Its art deco decor and classic cocktails make it the perfect spot to end your travels through early 20th-century Baltimore .
