Warsaw IN 24 HOURS
This eastern European metropolis has seen an impressive
revival resulting in a vibrant cultural scene, an impressive
culinary offer, and a fascinating, fresh skyline.
WHERE TO STAY
When the Prudential building was built in 1934, the
elegant 26-floor, Art Deco-style tower was Poland’s first
skyscraper. Now the home of Hotel Warszawa, it features
contemporary interiors skillfully inserted into the historic
structure.

WHERE TO SHOP
On a sunny day, Uliza Mokotowska is the place to go
shopping. Along this street you’ll find the latest street
couture at the stylish boutiques of Polish fashion designers
like Ania Kuczyńska, Robert Kupisz, and Blessus x
Michael Hekmat. Create your own perfume at Mo61
and get customised jewellery at Lilou. On a cold day, the
nearby top-notch shopping mall Vitkac (Bracka 9) is a good
alternative. The top-floor concept store surprises shoppers
with a half-pipe and a gaming room.

WHY NOT?
The POLIN Museum tells the thousand-year-long
history of Polish Jews in a vivid, three-dimensional,
and interactive way. For example, enter the gilded
interior of a former synagogue, or take a stroll through
a virtual old shtetl. POLIN’s strong message is: there
is no history of Jews without Poland, and there is no
history of Poland without Jews.

WHERE TO DINE
Michelin-starred Atelier Amaro is the closest to foodie heaven
you can get in Warsaw. Under the slogan ‘where nature meets
science’, Chef Wojciech Modest Amaro strives to reinvent Polish
cuisine with molecular cooking techniques using the best and
sometimes forgotten local ingredients. Amaro’s signature dish,
smoked haddock with roasty notes from juniper and freshness
from dill, is included in the San Francisco Museum of Modern
Art’s In Situ culinary collection.

Ever since its completion 60 years ago, the Kremlin-inspired
Palace of Culture and Science (Plac Defilad 1) has been a
matter of love or hate. The oversized layer cake of a building in
Warsaw’s city centre is still Poland’s tallest building. You don’t
have to visit all 3288 rooms in the palace, but do check out Bar
Studio downstairs, the swimming pool, cinema, museums,
and maybe even the cat shelter. To enjoy the panoramic view
from the 30 th floor, arrive early to avoid the queues.
