u The Band of the Braves Marching Band program received numerous superior ratings along with numerous top 3 and some best in class awards in all categories band , color guard , drum major , and percussion . The percussion took best in show at Sound of Silver . The band program overall swept their class in all categories at their last 2 competitions last season .
u UGA Band staff selected Baldwin High School students to participate in the JanFest based on the order of the director ’ s submission , the instrumentation need of the festival bands , and the reported musical achievements of each student . Congratulations to the following student for being selected : Madison Seagraves , Will Franklin , Ashton Davis , JaQuan Moore , Morgan Pounds , Olivia Warnock , Rachel Mullis .
The Baldwin County School District ’ s Fine Arts department has been a nationally-recognized , award-winning program for multiple years , even being selected as a Best Community in Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants five years in a row . The award has been a prestigious honor to receive and makes Baldwin County one of only six districts in the entire state to earn the distinction , competing with the Cobb and Gwinnett County school districts .
The Baldwin County School District offers music and art at all of our elementary and middle schools to help ensure our students receive the highest quality , most diverse and most comprehensive education possible . Lakeview Academy and Midway Hills Academy also offer an elementary band program for students in grades 3-5 .
The band programs at both the middle and high school levels in Baldwin County have developed a stellar track record of both awards and recognitions for their skills and talent . Still , they ’ ve also opened the doors to many colleges for our students who have gone on to receive scholarships .
The “ Band of the Braves ” is Baldwin High School ’ s award-winning band program . The ensembles currently offered at Baldwin High School are the Concert Band , Jazz Band , Percussion Ensemble , Marching Band , and numerous Chamber Ensembles .

The marching band has participated in the Chicago St . Patrick ’ s Day Parade , the Hollywood Christmas Parade , the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade , the Toronto Santa Claus Parade , the Atlanta Christmas Parade , the Rose Parade , the McDonald ’ s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago , and most recently participated in the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl Halftime Show in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans .
The band program isn ’ t the only exciting news the BCSD Fine Arts community can expect to see in our schools this year . Students at Oak Hill Middle School and Baldwin High School will have opportunities to continue to develop as performers with the newly-formed dance program . This is just another example of providing a world-class education to our students and our families .
While the accolades have been pouring in from all of the hard work our staff and students have put into their training and productions , the fine arts play a critical role in providing our students the most well-rounded and diverse education possible and an incredible way to open up new opportunities for our students while also providing an outlet for self-expression and creativity .
We are adamant about providing our students with a comprehensive education that includes a truly incredible fine arts curriculum . Our fine arts programs not only offer classes for our students to receive the critically important exposure to the arts and access to high quality , state of the art education , but it can also open doors to future higher-education opportunities as they continue to develop their artistic talents through each grade level .
