The first class of REACH Scholars graduated in the Class of 2020 . Kya Larkin , Dondre McKnight , Katelynn Corbin , MaKayla Milner , and Savannah Sanford were honored during the Baldwin High School Virtual Graduation Ceremony for being the first cohort of REACH Scholars to graduate . Congratulations ! We are so very proud of these five young scholars and can ’ t wait to hear about all their future accomplishments .

The 2019 cohort of REACH Scholarship recipients took part in the annual Signing Day ceremony at Oak Hill Middle School this past October . This year ’ s cohort , much like those before them , found themselves the center of attention amongst many of the community leaders and elected officials in our community .

At the signing day ceremony , much how athletes commit to colleges for sports programs , our REACH scholars will be committing to the meeting or exceeding the rigorous academic and behavioral standards that are outlined in the program . Once the scholars meet the requirements of the REACH program and graduate from high school , they will receive a $ 10,000 scholarship to help pay for their college education , and if they attend a partner college or university such as Georgia College , Central Georgia Technical College or Georgia Military College , they will receive a $ 20,000 scholarship .
Gov . Nathan Deal launched the REACH Scholarship ( Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen .), a state ’ s need-based college scholarship program , in 2012 . The REACH Scholarship continues the state ’ s commitment to providing access to higher education for all Georgians , regardless of their income .
“ The REACH Scholarship Program provides the opportunity for students who otherwise wouldn ’ t have the chance to attend college and opens new doors to them and their families that can change their lives forever ,” said Superintendent Dr . Noris Price .
The REACH Scholarship Program provides students with the academic , social , and financial support needed to graduate from high school , access college , achieve post-secondary success , and be prepared for the 21st-century workforce .
“ The level of community support the REACH program draws in is truly incredible ,” said Superintendent Dr . Noris Price . “ We have been able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for these students from local businesses and community members . It is exciting to have a program that brings in such enthusiasm and
