MEET DR. ANITA
DAVIS-DEFOE
My mantra in life is Success. I measure my success by two rare

Davis–DeFoe, has over 20 years of experience motivating,
coaching, inspiring and transforming individuals and
organizations. A graduate of the University of North CarolinaChapel Hill and Antioch University, Dr. DeFoe holds a Ph.D. in
Management with a focus in Organization and Human
Development. A John Maxwell certified mastermind group
facilitator, speaker and trainer, she has crafted and implemented
myriad organizational and human development programs aimed at
assisting people of all ages to discover boundless unique strengths;
to rebound from life challenges, to unleash their inner greatness.
Dr. Davis-DeFoe has authored over $10 million in grants which
funded a range of youth, workforce, housing, educational,
domestic violence, recreational and community economic
development programs across the United States and Caribbean.
A consultant with expertise in gender programs, organization,
business and leadership development; social enterprise and startups; personal development, change and quality management, Dr.
Davis-DeFoe has been a columnist for In the Zone Magazine (New
York), and is an Editor for Businessuite Magazine (Jamaica), Truly
Caribbean Magazine (Montserrat) and other online publications.
She is a member of the Social Enterprise Alliance, the Association
for Women’s Rights in Development, and the Society for
International Development. In 2012, in honor of her global human
development and social entrepreneurship work, Dr. DeFoe was
named the first Woman Chief by the ITAM CLAN in Abwu Ibom
State Nigeria. She is the Editor-In-Chief for SaS Magazine,
Solutions and Strategies for Women, published in partnership with
Blackslate Media Holdings – Jamaica.
Dr. Davis-DeFoe serves as the General Secretary/CEO of YWCA
US Virgin Islands. In this role she design and implements
programs and services for women specifically and the community
in general focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, health,
wellness, financial literacy, violence against women and girls, and
domestic violence. She conducts personal development sessions on
retooling one’s life after experiencing occurrences of domestic
violence with women in shelters, in correctional institutions at nonprofits, and facilitates staff development sessions for organizations

holistic services to battered women. Her presentation, “In Her
Shoes” focuses on the equipping victim to overcome domestic
violence, and provides service delivery practitioners with tools to
assist victims in rebuilding their lives.
She conducts trainings across the US, Europe, Africa and the
Caribbean for organizations such as the Virgin Islands Department
of Labor, Virgin Islands Department of Human Services, Broward
County Children’s Services Council, Broward County Women’s
Correctional Institution, Arts Reach Kentucky, Environmental
Protection Agency, Rutgers University-Arts for Youth, Ampod
