IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Sabrina Bonita Maxius,
T
oday’s spotlight shines on a beautiful lady,
thirty five year old by the name of
Sabrina Bonita Maxius,she is known to many of
her friends as “Empress Irie.) She grew up in
Sealy Land, Government Hill, St. Michael,
Barbados. (Sealy Land as Sabrina describes her
former residence as a small quiet neighborhood
with nine wooden houses and lots of fruit trees.
She is the daughter of Desmond and Helena and
a proud mother of three children Gyasi, Jaleel
and Sabriel. What many may not know is this
Ellerslie Secondary School graduate was an
athlete during her high school years and she was
also a member of the Ellerslie Cadets, which led
her to a career in law and order later in life. She
is a Police Constable with the Royal Barbados
Police Force, a position she has held for the past
fifteen years. She describes herself as a “simple,
calm, irie lady who embraces the beauty of life.”
This wise and beneficent Empress is a supporter
“One love We Care Charity.” In her leisure time
she enjoys writing poetry, hiking, cooking and
reading. Her favorite mantra is “When one door
is closed, don’t you know, another one is open.”Bob Marley
