After suffering complicated health issues at birth, John’s son Cole was paired with a service dog at age 14 from Summit Assistance Dogs, an organization that specializes in providing the gift of independence to people living with disabilities. Napoleon, a beautiful golden retriever mix, quickly became a member of the family and a loyal companion. After high school, the dog accompanied Cole to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. “Napoleon gave me the confidence and independence to learn to live on my own, truly empowering me to greater heights.” John and his wife Wendy have been generous supporters of Summit Assistance Dogs for many years. In 2015, John requested a matching gift to enhance his family’s personal contribution, as did his fellow associates Karen Davis and Lilith Wood.
