Taken from gate to gate , Al Rasheed Street is about 3,8 km long and about 12 m wide . The arcaded buildings along both sides , which constitutes around 70 % of the buildings on the street , provide a colonnaded walkway . The round columns , which are approximately 45cm in diameter give its distinctive character . Al Rasheed Street is considered one of the richest places with specific kinds of columns predominately used in the period of the 1930 › s . These are cylindrical columns decorated with recessed channels and prominent rib-like structure made by concrete and cement .
