Letter from the Editor...
Why Badassery?
Badassery Magazine was founded with community in mind, collaborations over competition and
everything in between.
Being a badass doesn’t mean that you are here to do this all alone. Being a badass doesn’t mean
that you are covered in tattoos and spend your nights picking fights at some dive bar. Being a ba-
dass doesn’t mean that just show up to kick ass and take names.
While all of those things are awesome, that really isn’t what makes someone real Badassery ma-
terial. Being a badass means looking at the hard things and then saying, “I can do this anyway”.
It’s staring down the face of all odds, when everything is stacked against you and deciding to do
it anyways.
After all the definition of Badassery loosely means to render all onlookers as awestruck. Even if
that means you are covered in tattoos, rock pink hair and say fuck, you can still be one badass
rockstar and business owner.
We are only defined by the limitation we place on ourselves. If I think I will fail, then I will.
However being a badass means that sometimes you do fail, even when you think you won’t. The
difference is that you never quit. You don’t let your failures define who you are. You consistently
get up again and again, until eventually it all works. After all, consistency is the only thing that
actually guarantees any sort of success.
Badassery was created out of the need for a home. I saw so many amazingly talented people try-
ing to make it to the in crowd. I decided one day that was ridiculous and I’ll just make my own
space. My co-founder, Kathy, also felt the same way and the rest is history. When we ask you to
share to our message, it so that more badasses in the world can find a home here too.
I’ve had the opportunity to speak with, collaborate, watch and interview all levels of entrepre-
neurs over the past few months. The all have one thing in common. Consistency. They ate shit (in
the words of GaryVee) and just kept going. Now that’s pretty badass to me.
Remember everyone has a story. There isn’t an end to the story, just a path that lead them to
where they are now. Where are you taking your Badassery tale?
XOXO,
