Our self-care is lacking. Okay, well so I meditated
last week…if you count when I fell asleep in the
hallway outside my kid’s piano lesson. Oh and I
totally drooled on my shirt…so, no, that shirt was
NOT clean after all.
THAT, my friends, is the problem. Our aspiring “Girl Boss/Boss Babe” counterparts have no
knowledge of the guts of business. They’ve never
gotten their hands dirty. They’ve never lost their
shit over a demanding client. They’ve never made
the 5 big mistakes that helped them become 5
times better and bigger.
They know exactly what the font, colors, and vibe
of their brand is, but they have no fucking clue why
someone NEEDS their brand. Where is the value? They have value…but they’re not getting to the
dirty, ugly process that helps them find it.
The answer is not to rid the world of the “Girl
Boss/Boss Babe” movement…the answer is to embrace it and refine it.
We need to be preparing the next generation of
women to lead, to work, to take charge and to
change the world. The images and lifestyle that are
being portrayed with the “Girl Boss/Boss Babe”
movement are where the roots of where the damage begins.
We have young women graduating from college
and instead of worrying about their business plan,
quality of service and differentiation from their
competition…you have an entire group of women
that are much more concerned with the IMAGE of
those things.
“Dress for the job you
want.”
“You need to look successful
to be successful.”
“I’m working on my figure
so I can make 6 figures.”
