A
re you a podcast listener
like me who binges on
shows while you’re driv-
ing, exercising, or cleaning the
house? If so, you might not have
considered all the benefits of
either launching your own show
or appearing as a guest expert on
someone else’s show.
Podcasting has been around for
some time, but if you’re like me,
you’ve seen more shows popping
up in recent months and more
opportunities to appear as a
guest expert. Along with every-
one proclaiming that if you’re not
already using Facebook Live that
you should be, the same holds
true for podcasting. It’s an amaz-
ing way to build relationships
and provide awesome value. Best
of all, it’s free!
Podcasting is currently experi-
encing a renaissance. I launched
my own podcast at the end of
2016 and was shocked at how
quickly it has grown and how
much of a demand there has
been for people to appear on the
show.
I only got into podcasting after
seeing the power of the medium
by appearing as a guest expert
on more than 30 shows. There
are many different reasons why
you should consider getting in-
volved as a podcast guest expert
and why it can be very powerful
marketing tool for your business,
whether you are a blogger, prod-
uct creator, or service provider.
As both a podcast host now and
a frequent podcast guest, what
follows are just a handful of the
ways I’ve watched podcasting
play out positively for my busi-
ness.
NETWORKING WITH OTH-
ERS
This is probably my favorite
aspect of being a podcast host as
well as appearing as a podcast
guest expert. You never know
who you are going to meet and
some of the most inspiring and
amazing individuals are using
podcasting as a medium to share
their information.
You may end up hiring someone
who interviews you, they may
end up hiring you or they may
connect you with someone else in
your world for a powerful rela-
tionship in the future.
Networking with the people on
my show or meeting new people
by appearing on their show has
been amazing for collaborating
and building relationships!
ESTABLISHING YOURSELF
AS AN EXPERT
There is nothing quite like ap-
pearing as the go-to person on
somebody’s podcast as a guest
expert. It helps to establish you
as a credible professional who
understands your industry and
knows what you are talking
about.
If you are a virtual assistant, for
example, you might talk about
the power of social media for
landing clients or you may talk
about the first things that most
entrepreneurs choose to delegate.
If the ideal audience for you are
individuals who may be in the
process of hiring a virtual assis-
tant, look for podcasts that those
people listen to.
PRACTICE YOUR SPEAKING
SKILLS
With the advent of Facebook Live
and so many other tools that al-
low you to get directly in front of
your audience in a more personal
way, practicing your speaking
