Stop working on your business !
Let ’ s talk about mindset and language for a moment , shall we ? What we tell ourselves and what we tell others is really important . There is energy and movement behind our words and actions . Just look at my previous words . Some of them had you saying “ huh ?” and some had you going YES !.
What are we saying when we tell ourselves we have to work on our business ? We are working which is good because it implies action . However , we are working on our business which identifies our business as something outside of ourselves . This is really important . It is like saying we are working on our car , or working on pulling weeds , or remodeling our kitchen . These are things that are defined by being separate from us and have tasks associated with them . If we are working on our business , we are lumping it into the same category as working on remodeling our kitchen . The other important thing to notice is that all of these things have dates when they would be completed . Is this how we want to talk about our business ? Filled with tasks and a finished by date ?
What happens if we shift one word ? Sometimes that is all that needs to happen when we shift our mindset . One little itty bitty word can make the difference between success and frustration .
What if we start working in our business ? Let ’ s change on to in and see what happens .
We are still working so we are still taking action . However now we are in our business . What
does that really mean ? It means our business is part of us and we are part of our business . It is integral to who we are rather than having it be a series of tasks that have a finish by date . It means that we are claiming our power as an entrepreneur and settling in because it is our life . Our business income streams can shift and how we market our business can change , but it is still our business . It just is . It also means our business has the notes of our Soul Song woven into it .
