Brooke Tyree of Sulphur, and Eric Brown of
Lake Charles, won the 2016 Gulf States Junior
PGA Championship presented by Under Armour
and Genesis Networks on Monday, July 11 at
Gray Plantation in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions
respectively, Brown and Tyree and qualified for
the 41st Junior PGA Championship presented by
Under Armour and Genesis Networks, Aug. 9-12
,at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford,
Rhode Island.
Tyree, 16, had a final-round 71 for a total of
141 and a 2-stroke victory over Abbey Daniel of
Covington, Louisiana.
Brown, 17, posted a final-round 67 for a total
of 136 and a 2-stroke victory over Nicholas
Arcement of Matthews, Louisiana, and Jacob
Bergeron of Slidell, Louisiana.
The 41st Junior PGA Championship presented
by Under Armour and Genesis Networks, is
open to one boy and one girl champion from
each of the 41 PGA Sections, champions of the 3 Hole Flight: 1st - Andrew Euhus; T2nd – Aven Jarreau and Hayes Jarreau;
eight PGA Junior Series events, select national 6-Hole Flight:1st - Drew Prieto; 2nd – Cole Haase; 9 Hole Flight: 1st -Cross
junior tournaments conducted throughout the Marchand; 2nd - Evan Luu
year and special invitees who have not reached
their 19th birthdays as of the final round of the
championship.
