MGA announces Mississippi Junior
Cup Matches/2016 season
The Mississippi Junior Cup Matches are a Ryder
Cup style weekend for our top junior golfers in
Mississippi. It is a time to celebrate junior golfers’
accomplishments from the previous year. We invite
our top players from five different age divisions based
on the results of our MJGA points series: A (boys
16-18), B (boys 13-15), C (boys 10-12), D (boys 7-9),
and G (girls overall). The tournament is set for April
2-3, 2016 at Greenville Country Club in Greenville,
Mississippi.
The tournament kicks off with a player draft on
Friday night. We split the juniors into two different
teams, the Palmer Team and the Nicklaus Team.
Saturday consists of four-ball matches and then on
Sunday, the teams compete in singles matches. On
Saturday night, there is a player dinner honoring
the team members as well as an awards ceremony.
There will be a MJGA Sportsmanship Award,
Robbie Webb Award, Age Division Player of the
Year Awards, and the Male and Female Player of
the Year winners from 2015.
The MGA also has many sanctioned tournaments
where MGA members can play and earn points
towards their MGA points series standings. There
also are five USGA qualifiers throughout the
2016 season: U.S. Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Senior
Amateur, Boys Junior, and Girls Junior qualifiers
held at different courses around the state. The
season ends on Nov. 12-13 at Old Waverly for the
annual Bryan Cup Team Club Championships. For

2016 MGA Season
Tournament season is just around the
corner here in Mississippi. The MGA is excited
about the upcoming season and has numerous
tournaments throughout the state for members.
The MGA conducts 5 State Championships
throughout the year:
April 22-24 – State Four-Ball/Bill Cass
Senior Four-Ball; Hattiesburg Country Club in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
May 13-15 – Mid-Amateur Championship
at Greenville Country Club in Greenville,
Mississippi.
June 2-5 – State Amateur Championship
at Reunion Golf & Country Club in Madison,
Mississippi.
June 17-19 – Father-Son/Daughter
Championship at Jackson Metro Courses in the
Jackson Metro area.
August 26-28 – Senior Amateur
Championship at Patrick Farms Golf Club in
Pearl, Mississippi.
