2016 OKCC revitalization

Oak Knoll is a 95-year-old course that
plays about 6,300 yards from the men’s
tees. This course has overcome the test of
time through the generations of families
that have passed their love of golf down to
new generations. In the recent years, the
club has been taking financial hit and has
been struggling to stay open. With new
management and upgrades to the facility,
the course looks to be on the ups.
Merri Schneider, new general manager of
Oak Knoll, has really made an impact. She
has hired a new tennis pro and partnered
with high schools to host local swim meets to
bring these aspects back to the course.
Events such as the Kentucky Derby party
and monthly steak nights have been huge
hits in the past few months. There was also a
fourth of July party thrown for the members
of the club that brought new friendships
among the members.
Merri feels her greatest accomplishment is
improving the brand of Oak Knoll. “There
is certainly a new buzz around the club,” she
said. She has changed the image around the
club, and there is certainly a more inviting
atmosphere in the clubhouse or pro shop.
As far as golf goes, Oak Knoll is a great
spot to hit to have a few drinks and a great
