Howes provides optimism to OKCC
Oak Knoll Country Club is responding
well to the hiring of Michael Howes as Head
Golf Professional, and he is also embracing the
opportunity. All of the factors to a successful
club are progressively getting better including
morale, membership, lessons, youth golf, family
friendly events, demo days and tournaments.
Michael Howes has opened the opportunity
at Oak Knoll to further players’ games and
improve scores around the course. Howes says,
“I have received very good support around
the club with the members on the board, staff,
country club members and the general manager
Merri Schneider. Merri has made the transition
easy.”
Howes has been conducting a year round
junior coaching program at Oak Knoll. This
includes four classes a week throughout different
times of the year. There are also nine-hole
tournaments for juniors to try to transition the
practice from the range to the course. There
were three very successful sessions of summer
camp for juniors.
The Member/Member tournament is
coming back this month, which has not been
played in years. Upcoming is also the Member/
Guest. The Club Championship was recently
played, with Butch Marshall winning the title.
Oct. 13th is demo day for Srixon and Cleveland.
Howes will be available to talk to about the
products and will also have his launch monitor
to see statistical results of swings.
