Beau Chene to Host Final LWGA Mid-Amateur
and Senior Championships Nov. 10 & 11
The 20th Louisiana Women’s Golf Association
(LWGA) Mid-Amateur Championship and 27th Senior
Amateur Championship (age 50 and older) will be
conducted at Beau Chêne Country Club, Mandeville, on
the Oak Course November 10-11, 2018.
Two 10-time LWGA Champions will defend their
titles: seven-time Mid-Amateur Champion, Kay Daniel,
Covington; and in the Senior Championship, five-time
Champion, Julie Harrison, Baton Rouge.

lwgagolf.com and on the Louisiana Golf Association
website: www.lgagolf.org Entry deadline: November 1.
These will be the final Championships conducted by
the LWGA. As of Jan. 1, the Louisiana Women’s Golf
Association, founded in 1925, and the Louisiana Golf
Association,1920, will unify to become the Louisiana
Golf Association to better serve all golfers in the state of
Louisiana.
Team Covich rolls to Silver Slipper win; Pizzitola
takes low pro
The Silver Slipper Pro-Am presented by Jani-King
was hosted at Diamondhead Country Club – Cardinal
Course on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The field was comprised
of 38 teams and 152 players. This year’s champions
included PGA Professional Jerry Covich and amateurs,
David Sellers, Curt Miller, and James Kelly. Team Covich
won with a total score of 128 (-16). Finishing in second
and third place respectively, was Team Pizzitola at 132
(-12) and Team Cascino at 133 (-11).
Congratulations to Mike Pizzitola on winning the Low
Pro Division with a score of five-under par, 67.
The Gulf States PGA would like to thank the entire
staff at Diamondhead Country Club including the PGA
Director of Golf Chris Altese and Head Golf Course
Superintendent Steven Smith. Special thanks to Baxter
Lee PGA Honorary Member and the entire staff of the
Silver Slipper Casino Hotel and to Mike Biggs, Chance
