16-18. The Northshore
gem will also host
the U.S. Open Local
Qualifier, conducted by
the LGA, on Monday,
May 13. The LGA Four-
Ball Championship will
be conducted at Lake
Charles Country Club,
June 8-9. These dates
are typically when the
LGA conducts the Amateur Championship, but
for 2019 only, the Four-Ball and the Amateur
dates have been interchanged. Lake Charles
Country Club will be a fun track for the LGA
Four-Ball. Registration opens February 1, and
the field is likely to fill-up quickly.
The LGA returns to the Capital City in June
for its Women’s Amateur Championship at the
Country Club of Louisiana. This will be the
91st edition of this event. The Country Club
of Louisiana was designed by Jack Nicklaus and
opened for play in 1986. It has hosted three
LGA Amateur Championships previously: 1999,
2006, and 2017.
The LGA will travel to the Big Easy in July
to conduct its Junior Amateur and Girls’ Junior
Amateur Championships at Bayou Oaks at City
Park. The Rees Jones designed course has been
tremendously supportive of the LGA since its
opening in April of 2017. The Championship
South Course is a par 72 layout that can stretch
anywhere between 5,100 – 7,350 yards. It hosted
the 2017 LGA Mid-Amateur and 2018 LGA
Net Amateur and U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier,
all of which were extremely well received.
Following the Amateur in July, the LGA heads
north to Squire Creek Country Club, site of
the LGA Mid-Amateur (August 9-11) and U.S.
Mid-Amateur Qualifier (August 12). Squire
Creek is a stalwart in the LGA Championship
rotation, and it boasts some of the best and
most challenging greens in the state. The golf
course is always in excellent condition, and the
Tom Fazio designed track will provider a stern
test for the top Mid-Amateur golfers in the state.
Squire Creek is a premier facility that has hosted
numerous LGA Championships previously and
the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship
in 2015.

After the Mid-Amateur in early August,
the LGA will be back in New Orleans for the
popular Net Amateur Championship at English
Turn Golf & Country Club on the Westbank.
English Turn, a Jack Nicklaus designed track
hosted the LGA Four-Ball in 2015 and 2017,
and it has drawn rave reviews recently. The
Signature Course at English Turn was originally
designed in 1988 for the New Orleans PGA
Tour event, which was held at the facility until
2004 and in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina.
The wonderful layout, close proximity to New
Orleans, and the attraction of a former PGA
Tour destination should once again be a recipe
for another successful LGA Championship. This
will be the first time that English Turn will host
the LGA Net Amateur. This Championship will
once again have a men’s and women’s division,
in addition to the concurrent Net Club Team
Championship.
The LGA Women’s Senior Amateur and
LGA Senior Four-Ball Championships will be
conducted in September at Koasati Pines at the
Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder. Koasati
Pines has hosted several LGA events over the year,
including the 2010 Amateur Championship, and
it will be a fantastic venue in August. Players
will be able to stay and play at the casino for
an exciting weekend of golf. This will be the
perfect event to cap off the historic 2019 Season.
As mentioned above, qualifiers will again
be conducted for both the LGA Amateur and
Mid-Amateur Championships. Eight sites
around the state (Alexandria, Baton Rouge,
Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, New
Orleans, and Shreveport) will conduct sectional
qualifying rounds for all entrants not exempt
into Championship round play. As in previous
years, those players who attempt to qualify but
are unsuccessful will receive a $100 refund from
their $225 entry fee at the conclusion of the
Championship proper.
The LGA will also conduct eight USGA
Qualifiers in 2019. LGA Championship events
are open to members of LGA Member Clubs.
