Herring wins MJGA Patrick Farms Junior tourney
Pearl, Mississippi – The Mississippi
Golf Association reported an exciting
day at Patrick Farms Golf Club as
32 junior golfers in all age groups
set out to play the MJGA Patrick
Farms Junior tournament. The Boys
A division champion was Garrett
Herring of Laurel, Mississippi,
posted a score of 75, followed by
2nd place finisher Landon Draughn
of Petal, Mississippi who posted a
76. Following right behind them,
Nathan Slack posted a 78 to take
home the 3rd place trophy.
Spence Davis of Madison,
Mississippi, took the outright
lead in the Boys B division with a
five stroke lead over the field and
posted a two-over-par 74 to become
champion. Following behind Spence
was Connor Gee of Madison,
Mississippi, who shot a 79 to take
second place and Joseph Berry of
Braxton who shot an 81 to secure
the 3rd place trophy.
The Boys C division champion
was William Marshall of Madison
who posted a 76 to beat out the
rest of the field. The 2nd and 3rd
place trophies were taken by Braden
Lagendyk of Meridian and Noah
Harkins of Madison. Lagendyk and
Harkins posted scores of 78 and 86
to secure their podium spots.
Grayson Davis of Madison shot a
3 over 39 to take the first place trophy
home in Boys D division, followed
by John Markow of Ridgeland and
Tucker Gutierrez of Ridgeland.
Markow posted a nine-hole score of
40, and Tucker posted a score of 43
to take home 3rd place.
The Girls A division saw close
competition, but Sarah Johnson of
Florence was able to rise to the top
with a low score of 78. Jenna Belton
of Brandon posted an 87 to take
2nd, and Abigail Wickham shot a 91
to take the 3rd place trophy.
Katelynn Altese of Diamondhead
came out the winner of the Girls B
division by posting a solid score of
85. Hannah Hinckley of McComb
posted a 92 to take 2nd place, and
Mattie Granberry shot a 97 to secure
the 3rd place spot in her division.
Harper Hinckley of McMomb
shot 39 to grab the 1st place trophy
in the Girls D division. While Allie
Myers of Pearl and Lucy Cook of
Madison took 2nd and 3rd place by
shooting nine hole scores of 52 and
55.
Wil Collins of Flowood won the
Boys E division with a score of 50,
and Karstyn Altese won the Girls E
division with a nine hole score of 40.
The Mississippi Golf Association
reported that the conditions could
not have been better at Patrick
Farms Golf Club.
Weber, Patel and Jin advance to Big I National
Zachary, Louisiana – The
Louisiana
Big
“I”
Junior
Championship was held on Tuesday,
June 19 and Wednesday, June 20
at Beaver Creek Golf Course in
Zachary. The top two overall boys
and top overall girl advanced to the
Trusted Choice Big “I” National
Championship at Daniel Island
Club in Charleston, South Carolina,
Aug. 6-9.
Matt Weber won on the first
playoff hole over Karan Patel to
claim Boys Overall Championship.
Both Weber and Patel fired rounds
of 70, 69 for a five-under par total.
Coming in third place was first
round leader, Jake Marler, who shot
69, 74.
Grace Jin won the Girls Division,
with scores of 80, 80 for a 160 total.
Isabella Guidry finished in second
place.
The Gulf States Section of the
PGA of America thanked Mike
Raby, PGA, Tom Agazzi, PGA,
and Brian Lanoix for making the
tournament a success.
