figueroa and rosholt earn medalist
honors at U.S. Junior Amateur qualifiers
Mauricio Figueroa, 17, of Guadalajara,
México, fired the low round of the day, a three-
under par 69 to earn medalist honors in the
boys’ qualifier and Calynne Rosholt, 15, of
Cedar Park, Texas, carded a one-under part 71
for medalist honors on the girls’ side in the U.S.
Junior Amateur qualifiers.
Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette hosted
both the U.S. Junior Amateur and Girls’ Junior
Amateur qualifiers.
Figueora shot 33 on his front nine and an
even par 36 on his back nine. Rosholt was the
only girl to finish under par on Tuesday, and she
now advances to compete in the championship
proper which will be conducted at Poppy Hills
Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California, July
16-21.
Rosholt won the Women’s Southern Amateur
earlier this month and will be a favorite contender
at Poppy Hills if she can maintain this high level
of play.
Figueroa is committed to play college golf for
the University of Arkansas, and he will now get
the opportunity to tee it up at famed Baltusrol
Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey in the 71st
U.S. Junior Amateur.
