Bloor and Ramey take Women’s State 4-Ball
Ramey and Bloor used their
local course knowledge to take home
the championship in the Women’s
State 4-Ball. USM alumni Heather
Ramey and Kayla Bloor were the
solo leaders going into the final
round after shooting a first round
of four under par, followed by Lisa
Horsely and Paige Phillips’ one over
par round. Ramey and Bloor second
round of three under par and a total
of 137 (-7) was enough to take the
winner title. Lou Hart and Pam
Posey took home second place with
a total score of 141 (-3).
Winners in the first flight were Nell
Bradford and Jan Lacy after shooting
one-over par in their second round
for a total score of 158. The runner
ups were Kathy Cooley and Karen
Wells with a total of 162, followed
by Kathleen Bannister and Denice
King with a total of 165 (+21).
In the second flight, Brenda
Alexander and Bonnie Bunch-
Glover tied with Rhonda Pearson
and Debbie Scholl with an overall
score 0f 170. Karen Deavenport
and Rachel Harmount took home
the third place with a score of 173.
Abney wins Junior Amateur with impressive 64
Simms Abney won the Boys A
Division as he posted a round of 8
under par 64 on the second day and
65 on the third to win the tournament
at Reunion Golf and Country Club
in Madison, Mississippi. Rounding
out the top three in the A Division,
Jake Kight shot three consecutive
rounds of 71 to finish in second with
a total of 213, and Jack Gnam of
Ridgeland shot 216 over the three
round event to finish in third.
In the B division, Cohen Trolio
won with a total of 210, including
a second round score of 68. Wells
Williams finished second with a total
of 218, and Drew Wilson took third
with a total score of 220.
