THE PATH TO LIFE
“ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Along the road of life there are many paths we choose to take. Some paths are filled with happiness and laughter; others are marked with sorrow and tears. Regardless of the paths you choose along life’ s road, you will inevitably come to a place in your journey where you can either continue on the current path to eternity, which leads to what the Bible calls the second death, or choose the path that leads to life.
In today’ s society, it may seem as if there are various paths which lead to eternal life; but Jesus said He is the way to God, no one can get there by any other means( see John 14:6).
Romans 3:23 states,“ For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This means that everyone is a sinner; and as sinners, we will never be“ good enough” to earn our way into a relationship with God. According to Romans 6:23,“ The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The one thing we do deserve for our sins is death, eternal separation from God in hell; however, because of His love for us, God has given us a gift— the gift of eternal life with Him through Jesus Christ.
According to Romans 5:8,“ God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus, the sinless sacrifice, took our place and paid the price for our sins through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. Therefore, it is only through Him that we are saved from the penalty of sin and given the gift of eternal life.
The path to eternal life is now before you. Which way will you choose?
The following prayer is a guideline to help you tell God that you want to accept His gift of eternal life:
Dear God, Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. I know that I am a sinner and that it is only through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the dead that I am able to have salvation from sin and eternal life with You in heaven. I now accept You as my Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen
