The wonderful world of reading
When my son was born, I wanted to nurture a love of reading in him. He’ s only three, so a bit young for Enid Blyton, but we adore Julia Donaldson. My favourite part of the day is when we head to his room with a stack of books and I read to him. He knows the lines of his favourites and proudly roars when needed – and then it’ s time for cuddles, which are pretty wonderful too.
Of course, this inspired me to explore more about the power of storytelling. On page 50, speech-language expert Sairah Rich unpacks how bedtime stories do far more than entertain: they build brains, nurture empathy, and strengthen the parent-child bond.
We also caught up with Aneeqah Fataar Litskas, who juggles being a wife, content creator, social media marketer, and new mom. She shares how motherhood has reshaped her priorities, as well as how she lives her life online( see page 14).
