We don’ t often think about our hearing until something feels“ off” – a ringing after a concert, a child blasting music through earbuds, or a teenager insisting their headphones are definitely not too loud.

“ One of the most common yet often overlooked causes of hearing loss is noise exposure. This can include noise from headphones or earbud use, loud household appliances, or workplace noise exposure,” says Mikela van Kerkhof, audiologist at Netcare Mulbarton Hospital.
