One morning, I was changing my newborn’ s nappy while half-asleep and sipping my much-needed coffee. I turned for one second to grab wipes and, in that exact moment, my baby managed to pee straight up – like a fountain.
It arced perfectly into my coffee mug.
I just stared at it, stunned, while my baby looked up at me like he’ d just performed a magic trick. Needless to say, I skipped the caffeine that day and learned to keep beverages far, far away from the changing table. – Caitlyn Garbade

SURPRISE times two

My story … I remember very clearly: last November, going for a scan to check my baby’ s gender. And guess what? I almost died that day – high blood pressure, crying, the works – because the doctor had just given me the biggest shock of my life: TWINS!
Honestly, I didn’ t know how to feel. I was happy, terrified, and questioning everything all at once. But I’ ve accepted it now, and here I am, still pushing my very full baby bump and surviving on green apples. – Zintle Promise

MIDNIGHT GOOGLING

At 2am, I’ m not a parent – I’ m Dr Google’ s best customer. That’ s when everything is quiet and you start to panic because your baby is breathing fast or making strange noises.
Even though I’ ve learned that it’ s absolutely normal, as a first-time mom I still find myself asking Dr Google everything. If my child breathes a little faster, I’ m searching:“ Is this normal?”
As a first-time parent, the strangest thoughts run through your head in the middle of the night. – Anastasia Murugasen
