THE PHOTOSHOOTS
The photoshoots for our range show some of the key pieces which we will be launching
(see ‘Baby Z The Range’ for more).
For my photoshoots I have used four different models and three different locations.
All my models are regular girls and are all from different lifestyle, cultural and
ethnic backgrounds – this was a way to demonstrate the diversity and unity which the
brand stands for.
I chose to shoot each particular model in each specific location for the style and
life that they live. I also chose to style each look to suit the setting of the
photos and to create a strong representation of the girl being photographed.
Instead of shooting plain photos I decided to create a story board-a true mini-
profile of each of the models and their life story up until now. I decided this would
be a good idea to get more in-touch with my tribe and have them relate to our models
more than they would with another brand. Although I’m using influencers to promote
and support the social development of my brand, I think that it’s important to also
use regular girls who are all different shapes, sizes and personalities to wear our
clothes because, after all, our brand is a representation of girls- real girls.
There has been a lot of uproar in the media about unrealistic beauty standards, for
example the Victoria’s Secret campaign of different body types in response to the
disappointment shown by their target audience. There is a clear demand, particularly
on social media, for more ‘real’ and authentic advertising- women want to know that
they can wear whatever they like, no matter what they look like or who they are.
It’s important that my photos give something for my target audience to relate to but
also shows that our clothes can be worn in many different ways by different people.
