Cornish Mystery Series
The Cornish mysteries, set in about 1970, feature Eleanor Trewynn, a widow in
her sixties. Eleanor worked all over the world for an international charity. When her
husband was killed in a riot, she retired to Cornwall, bought a cottage in a fishing
village, and turned the ground floor into a charity shop, while living in the flat
above.
In the first book of the series, Manna from Hades, Eleanor's Westie, Teazle, finds
a body in the shop's stock room. In later books, Eleanor's past comes back to
haunt her in the shape of the painful aftermath of the end of the colonial empire.
Her unconventional viewpoint and her ability to reconcile opponents are still
needed.
Eleanor's niece, Megan Pencarrow, is a local police detective who is haplessly
drawn into her aunt's shenanigans, as are her neighbour, an artist, and the vicar's
wife, who runs the shop.
