AFTER HAVING A QUICK CHAT WITH EMILY JOHNSON OF MUSHROOM
SPRING, I WAS INSTANTLY TRANSPORTED TO A CHILDHOOD
FAIRYLAND, AND I DIDN’T WANT TO GROW UP. WITH WHIMSY,
IMAGINATION AND MAGIC, EMILY HAS FASHIONED A LIFE OUT OF
MAKING ILLUSTRATIONS AND SOFT SCULPTURES FOR CHILDREN.
Initially hooked on the art of doll making at the ripe old age of thirteen,
Emily just recently began gracing the world with her creations when she
started selling them just over a year ago. Since then, she has made quite
a name for herself artfully weaving fabric, glitter, color and personality into
dolls, mobiles and illustrations.
One peek at her website www.mushroomspring.com, and you’re easily
drawn into her fairytale bubblegum world. Which is apropos because in
addition to her goods, she also offers illustration workshops.
As if all this wasn’t other-worldly enough, Emily is taking her current
inspiration from space and galaxies, and plans to add a collection of dolls
inspired by an outer space girl band -- and a collection of valances for
your little one’s rooms. She also has plans to incorporate holographic
materials into her creations.
The future is coming soon. Be sure to check out her gallery of items as
they’d make the perfect gift for the littles in your life.
