Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn.” - Unknown If I were to transport myself back to my girlhood, this sentiment would certainly ring true, with those 90s Lisa Frank vibes of slam books and rainbows -- you get the picture. And now that a certain coffee chain has made unicorns on trend again, we decided a healthier and more approachable way to share our love of the mystical would be to use it as a backdrop for a charming little lady’s room. Once we had the walls set, we set out to find the perfect bed to ensure sweet dreams (or days spent lounging with Now to top the bed. Hard to do so figuratively, but with a fun Mexican blanket from Gunn & Swain, it made doing so a breeze. The burst of color was a natural choice to tie in the bright colors from the Target llama bedsheets. The combination was dreamy. Keeping in mind the grandeur of the room, we were afforded the opportunity to play with dimensions. To that effect we were able to add a LoungeLife Hammock chair by H&M which created a separate day- dreaming space. And because we know life can’t only be about unicorns and rainbows, we added a desk space for the inevitable patch of homework or to be able to create some art should the whim strike. In lieu of a traditional nightstand, we placed a handmade Stapley doll on top of a macrame shelf. We liked how the wood and metal played off of each other as we like to mix textures. We’re big fans of contrast over here at Babiekins. To keep the theme of whimsy throughout, we framed unicorn, rainbow and heart prints by Etsy shop Invited by Audriana. We also tucked handmade wooden toys from Sweet Whimsey Designs around the room and into Plum + Sparrow nesting baskets. The baskets were also good for adding some fauna to the room. To keep with the idea of bringing the outside in, we also added a handmade saguaro cactus pillow from Boho Baby Heaven to the bed and a neon cactus lamp from Sunnylife. And lest we forget, a unicorn plush from Meri Meri, too. The combination of all these magical things really brightened up the space and gave it the eclectic, yet thematic structure we were looking to create. Have you recently done a room transformation? Email us at [email protected] For this room transformation, it’s not surprising that we started with our all time favorite wall color palette - white. It’s the perfect base and gives everything else we plan to layer in the room the perfect pop, like the cheerful rainbow decals from our friends at WallsNeedLove. your squad planning world domination). Clearly it needed to be soft, yet fierce. That’s a lot to ask of a bed frame, but we found it with this perfect bed by Incy Interiors. In a modern rose gold color, this classic shape gets an instant upgrade and sets the stage perfectly for an environment of grace and strength. 121
