be divided from the mühimme ones. For example, in the case of those entries – occuring both in the
mühimme and şikayet-registers – which include a command to call the parties to the Porte personally,
a clear distinction can be made whether the order of this kind is conditional or unconditional.
Besides other figures, questions concerning the study of this kind of registers, the paper also
provides a short revisited chronological list of the 17. century material of the şikayet defteris.
