Why Slash is one of the most Overrrated Guitarists

Take Led Zeppelin with the death of John Bonham the rest of the group instantly new that things were over and if they had continued to record and perform there music with someone else behind the drum seat then the fans may have simply ignored and that nothing would be the same, they did the smart thing and went there separate ways but during that period they made mistakes, well Page did, most of all by forming the band The Firm with Paul Rodgers on vocals, when I first heard of this band my interest was intrigued and I thought it would be a fantastic culmination from two separate band members who managed by the same person IE: Peter Grant. Yet when I listened to there first and variably hard to find debut album I was sickened to the very core and wondered whatever possessed them to make such crass, watered down music that did not match Free or Led Zeppelin put together, from the serving memory I believe I switched the damn thing off after the first track been that I simply couldn’t take anymore, at least Robert Plant had the good sense to create his own solo career that has created vast albums and tours, it’s good but yet again can match up to that glorious high of Led Zeppelin turned up to eleven but it is good, there is no disputing that been that he has made a success of taking a new direction and developing his music over a period of time. What I am trying to fathom in this long ranting is why Slash dares to continue if he is just going to continue playing gigs that are filled with a greatest hits list and would you believe it but things actually got worse? Well they certainly did when [played the opening notes to Sweet Child Of Mine, a song of which Slash has stated on many accounts he despises and wishes he had no part of been that Guns And Roses were meant to be a hard hitting rock band, not some ballad toting Poison types, yet I laughed when his face erupted in anger at the fact that the audience members cheered the hardest when he played this. Some band members of famous have made a decent living out of paying homage to there old bands that made them famous while still managing to write and realise music while others have simply ignored there old hits to focus more on there new material, now understand why Slash keeps going back to the well and playing over and over again those hits that made him famous and that is due to the fans and there love of the old material and fear of whatever is new and that is fine but sometimes you have to say fuck the fans and do whats best for you rather than having to revert to the old hits just to play it safe. Iresponse to seeing this I believe we have to stop looking for something new in the heroes we woshipped n and look forward to new acts to come along and inspire, but when that will happen in the uncertainty of how music will improve in the charts and with the claibre of music in the world we know not when anything will surfice to be condemened as music anymore.
