Changes and enhancements for

14

Enhanced Benefit Booster
In 2026, the Benefit Booster is being elevated to deliver even greater value, centred around simplicity and member wellbeing.
• The previous tiered structure has been removed.
• Members must now complete a wellness screening via our preferred partner channel to assess their health risk.
• An online mental health assessment is also required to unlock the Benefit Booster, enabling early identification of mental health concerns and timely support, without stigma or prejudice.
• As an added bonus, the Benefit Booster on Primary and BonPrime has been increased by 5.3 %, now offering R4 000 in 2026.
To support this initiative, we’ ve worked closely with our wellness screening providers to enhance referral protocols, ensuring members receive immediate mental health support and reducing the risk of hospitalisation.
Mental health consultation benefits have been adjusted as follows:
• Primary: R9 780
• BonSave: R15 440
• BonPrime: Paid from savings
Chronic & disease management enhancements
Bonitas continues to expand access to care through strategic benefit enhancements:
• Benign Prostate Hyperplasia has been added as a chronic condition on BonComprehensive, offering members broader access to treatment
Bonitas Member Magazine Issue 4 / 2025
• For members with diabetes, the insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring device benefit has been unbundled, allowing claims for one insulin pump every five years, one continuous glucose monitor every year and consumables, enhancing flexibility and quality of care.
• As part of our strategic realignment, we have recalibrated our chronic and acute medicine formularies at an option level. Members will continue to enjoy access to the same categories of medicine with adjustments made to improve treatment outcomes and deploy more strategic generic selections.
Hospital network optimisation
Hospital negotiations have been a strategic enabler for the Scheme, generating annual savings of over R400 million. This allows Bonitas to keep contribution increases lower while securing the best possible rates for members. Bonitas has engaged all major hospital groups to define new networks for the next three years, with a strong focus on maintaining the footprint and size of existing networks.
• The current Bonitas hospital networks will remain in place until the end of 2025
• The updated networks were announced in October 2025 and will impact the following options: BonClassic, BonComplete, BonSave, BonPrime, BonFit, Primary, Standard Select, BonStart, BonStart Plus, BonEssential Select, Hospital Standard, BonCap
• The BonEssential network will be aligned with Primary, offering a broader hospital selection than BonEssential Select
All benefits are subject to approval by the Council for Medical Schemes.
