Instead of taking the lift or escalator , use the stairs . Small changes like this can make a big difference in maintaining fitness levels . Combine this with more walking , swimming and dancing and you ’ ll return from your holiday feeling energised and without any extra kilograms .

During the holidays we are all tempted by indulgent treats or an extra scoop of ice cream . Remember the golden rule : Everything in moderation . Keep an eye on your portion sizes and try to balance carbohydrate heavy meals with fresh , healthy options

Alcohol is high in calories so choose wisely . Try refreshing alternatives like sparkling water , alcohol-free cocktails or drinks loaded with some fresh fruit , berries , mint or a squeeze of fresh lemon .

Making a splash

An ideal way to beat the heat and stay active is by taking a dip in a pool . Swimming is an excellent full-body workout , toning your arms and legs while offering a good cardio workout . If you ’ re at the ocean or near a lake , swimming is a refreshing way to keep fit .
