Dental benefits
For 2025 , our dental tariff will see an overall increase of 5,9 %. In addition , the cost of dental implants on BonComprehensive will increase to R3 563 per implant . The family limit for dentistry on BonClassic will increase in line with the claiming patterns to R6 155 per family for conservative dentistry and R7 410 per family for specialised dentistry .
A R125 co-payment will apply per annual check-up per beneficiary on BonStart and R70 co-payment will apply per annual check-up per beneficiary on BonStart Plus .
Dental fissure sealants will now be available on all plans , including Hospital Standard , to ensure that preventative care measures are put in place for younger members .
In keeping with the theme of providing additional access for dentistry , members on Standard Select will be allowed to use a dental service provider of their choice for conservative and specialised dentistry out-of hospital .
Manage hypertension with blood pressure monitors
To fund blood pressure monitors for high-risk beneficiaries registered with hypertension , we ’ ve introduced a benefit of R1 200 per family , over a 2-year cycle on BonComprehensive , BonClassic , BonComplete , Standard and Standard Select . This benefit will pay from savings on BonComprehensive , BonClassic and BonComplete and from the general appliances benefit on Standard and Standard Select .
Changes to savings on our savings options
Despite recent industry trends which have seen significant benefit cuts in savings allocations , we are pleased to share that we have opted to increase the savings on BonComprehensive by 14 %. BonSave and BonFit Select remain at 25 % and 15 % respectively .
Chronic medicine management
We are excited to share that we have reduced the co-payment for non-DSP use or non-formulary adherence for chronic medicine to 30 % on all options .
We have also broadened access for chronic medicine on BonComprehensive , BonClassic , BonComplete and Standard to include the Bonitas Pharmacy Network , and not just Pharmacy Direct . Our chronic medicine formularies will also be realigned to be more suitably tiered to the profiles of each specific option – allowing for a more streamlined approach .
We will also allow third party co-funding of specialised non-PMB drugs with a 30 % co-payment on BonComprehensive , up to current benefit limits . Identified specialised drugs will be reimbursed at a reduced drug value from day one of approval . This will extend members specialised drug benefits and allow access to drugs that would otherwise be declined due to benefit limits .

The Bonitas website has been a key engagement platform for current and potential members alike . With over 300 000 unique users accessing the site on a monthly basis . It was also named as one of the most credible sources of information . We have made great strides in updating the website over the past few months and are pleased to share that the changes we ’ ve made will go a long way towards enhancing member education – helping them to understand the steps they need to take to access their benefits .
Since the launch of the Member Information Hub last year , we ’ ve seen a 65 % increase in the time spent on the website – with the hub becoming one of the top 3 pages accessed . We are pleased to share that it ’ s been updated regularly with easy-to-use articles , infographics , videos and tools to enhance the experience of our members ! Keep an eye out for the key changes shared in the window period – such as our interactive online brochures to help members get the essential info they need quickly and easily !
Introducing Quick Find
But that ’ s not all ! To make things even easier , we ’ re pleased to bring a new layer to the fore . Presenting Quick Find , powered by predictive technology – constantly refreshed by member engagement elements , Quick Find provides an enhanced user experience to help members find answers to their difficult medical aid questions without having to contact the support centre . This is bolstered by a search function that simplifies the process of locating information , saving time and improving convenience . The intuitive nature of this feature reduces effort scores – improving overall satisfaction with superior accuracy . And because the functionality is available 24 / 7 , members can engage on their terms ! What ’ s not to love ?!
Ambulance tracking now available on WhatsApp
Last year , we added a ‘ request an ambulance ’ function to the website – allowing members to complete the necessary authentication to get an ambulance sent to them in an emergency – and track its location in real-time ! We ’ re taking this one step further for 2025 – by adding real-time tracking through WhatsApp – adding an additional layer of convenience .
