Mother and Child Care Benefit
In conjunction with our Female Health Programme , we ’ ve expanded this benefit to include milestone reminders for children under three , immunisation reminders , and online screenings for infant and toddler health . To enhance these benefits further in 2025 , we will provide 2 vision screening tests by qualified ophthalmologists for premature newborns on all options except BonCap . This will allow for early intervention and where possible , prevent blindness in babies .
Maternity Programme
Our enhanced Maternity Programme now provides greater support for expecting mothers , including early identification of high-risk pregnancies , weekly engagement for high-risk pregnancies , post-childbirth follow-up calls , and online assessments for pregnancy and mental health – given the prevalence of pre and postnatal depression .
To take things even further and give expectant mothers additional support during pregnancy , we ’ ve opted to cover antenatal vitamins during pregnancy from savings or the Benefit Booster ( where applicable ) on BonComprehensive , BonClassic , BonComplete , BonSave and BonFit select .
Antenatal vitamins will be covered from acute benefits or the Benefit Booster on Standard , Standard Select , Primary and Primary Select and for members on BonEssential , BonEssential Select , BonStart and BonStart Plus , antenatal vitamins will be funded from the Benefit Booster . This will be subject to a maximum of R195 per month and a specific formulary on all indicated options .

Introduction of Diabetes Nurse Educators
As an addition to enhancing our wellness screening initiatives , we have opted to increase the primary care support offered to members with diabetes by providing two consultations with a Diabetes Nurse Educator ( DNE ) on all options except BonCap . These registered nurses receive additional training and qualifications ensuring they are equipped to provide members with the best advice and specialised diabetes care .
We have realigned our PET scan benefits
In line with market trends , members on BonComprehensive will now have access to two PET scans per family , per year , while members on BonClassic , Standard and Standard Select will get access to one PET scan per family per annum . To ensure our members have access to additional value , we will implement a PET scan network in 2025 to ensure enhanced access to scanner facilities at a negotiated rate .
Extended mental health support
For 2025 , we have extended our mental health support to provide more personalised engagement through the enhanced Maternity Programme to treat antenatal and postnatal depression . We are therefore set to leverage the high-quality integrated chronic care family practitioner network by including a mental health service component to facilitate early disease detection and diagnosis of mental health conditions in members with chronic illness . These members will then be guided to enrol on the Mental Health Programme and access multi-disciplinary carecoordination through the high-quality network of doctors .
Audiology Benefit Management Programme is now the Hearing Loss Management Programme
We ’ ve also opted to reposition our audiology programme as the Hearing Loss Management Programme to improve member understanding of the offering . This includes free hearing screenings for all South Africans on the Bonitas website as well as support in managing audiology benefits so that members on BonComprehensive , BonClassic , BonComplete , Standard and Standard Select can receive hearing aids , audiology services and hearing aid acoustic services of the highest quality within the confines of their benefit limits by using network practitioners . Benefits on these options will range between R9 100 to R10 900 per beneficiary on a 3-year cycle for 2025 based on the option selected .
