CALLAKOPPEN
It’ s remarkable how quickly 2026 is unfolding. As we move towards the close of the first quarter and step into April, the rhythm of the year is already well underway. With this momentum comes an opportunity to pause, take stock and gently realign ourselves with the habits and intentions that support our health and wellbeing.
While many South Africans continue to navigate economic pressures, daily stress and the increasing demands of modern life, this time of year invites a reset- both individually and as families. Guided by our theme:‘ Healthy families start with healthy habits,’ this edition focuses on practical, sustainable changes that strengthen personal wellness and the wellbeing of those we care for.
Within these pages we explore achievable ways to cultivate healthier routines and restore balance. On page 7, we unpack how to find balance in a digital world- a growing challenge for adults, children and families alike. On page 9, we look at the power of moving more and how simple daily activity can help you feel stronger, calmer and more energised. Page 10 explores healthy eating on a budget, showing how mindful choices can nourish both body and wallet.
Beyond lifestyle habits, we highlight the power of annual screenings, one of the most effective tools for detecting health issues early and protecting long term wellbeing. Additional features cover desk habits that can damage your health, mental health in women and what your body may be trying to tell you. Each serves as a reminder that listening to your body is one of the most valuable habits you can build.
To support you further, you’ ll find practical health tips and helpful‘ health bits’ throughout the magazine, offering quick, accessible, practical steps you can apply immediately. As you journey through this edition, I encourage you to take small, intentional steps toward healthier habits- for yourself, your loved ones and the communities around you. When nurtured consistently, these habits become building blocks for a more balanced, resilient and connected life. Because healthy families truly do begin with the simple choices we make every day.
Here’ s to positive routines, meaningful connections and the kind of health that supports us … not just in this season but throughout the year.
