In 2010 , for the evolving hypoallergenic home sanitizing segment , BLACK + DECKER developed the Steam Mop Deep Clean Series encompassing an all-round home steam cleaning solution , catering both floor and above-the-floor applications . The global success and wide acceptance led to the development of a full range of environmentally friendly steam mops in 2012 , using only water and heat . The most recent introduction in 2017 i . e . 3rd generation of steam mops is a more advanced range and includes an innovative SteaMitt - giving the power of steam in the palm of user ’ s hand .
