MISSION DISCOVERY
ready for blast off
We are delighted to
announce that the
Mission Discovery
programme will be
coming to Ayrshire
for the first time this
summer as a result of
funding we agreed.
Mission Discovery
is a space school
developed by the
International Space
School Educational
Trust (ISSET) and
will give 200 lucky
secondary school
pupils and college
students the chance
to engage with NASA
astronauts and rocket
scientists.
They will work in
teams, aided by
mentors, to develop
their own space
experiments – with
the winners having
their idea launched
to the International
Space Station!
Mission Discovery is
proven to enhance
students’ scientific
and technological
skillset, while
developing innovation
and team work, and
we are delighted to
be in a position to
bring it to Ayrshire.
All three Ayrshire
council areas will
put forward 50
pupils each for the
extraordinary weeklong adventure, with
Ayrshire College
selecting 50 students
from its STEM
(Science, Technology,
Engineering and
Mathematics) courses.
Mission Discovery
will take place over
the week beginning
June 13th at Prestwick
Airport’s Aviator Suite.
There will also be a
programme of public
events on during this
time. Further details
of those events will
be announced on our
website soon. This
can be found at here.
