10. How important do you think it is to have your music mastered commercially? Can you do it yourself as effectively and what tools would you recommend?
i used to get my albums mastered in london, but since i managed to get my self a tc finaliser in the early 2000's i started doing it myself! i saved a massive amount of cash! but….its best to get it done commercially if you can afford it, as the plug in mastering programs seems to limit the music to music, and destroy the dynamics.
11. What do you believe is the secret to your success as a producer?
believing in my dreams! and putting in the hours, when everyone else is partying hard and socialising i'm often in the studio! i also listen hard to my peers! the music that influences me is soul / jazz/ and funk from the early 70's…
12. Any advice for the aspiring producers out there?
like i said earlier, clock up the hours learning! try and learn about music, and get musicians involved in the productions…believe in your self!! anything is possible….if a farm boy from devon can do it, then anyone can!!
