1. Please tell me a little about yourself? Who is Andy Compton ?
born and bred in devon, uk a few years back…farm boy turned musician at 13 ish… now producer/dj/label owner.
2. When did your career start?
i started playing the guitar 13 ish, started bands and got obsessed with making music!
2.1 How did you get your start in the music business?
i started teaching guitar in guitar shops when i left school/home when i was 16. At 17 i moved up country to Nottingham, with my rock/funk band to get famous! but, the plan changed when i fell in love with dance music and sold my guitar to get some decks! i started being a DJ and put on events back home in Devon. I then met pete morris and we started jamming house music….got a bank loan to start a label, and the rest is history!
2.2 How had the internet changed your relationship with and to music and the industry?
it makes sending promo's a lot cheaper for starters! sending 100 12" worldwide used to be a mission! but sales wise, internet caused a major kick in the teeth!
3. which country have you visited through being booked and which is your favorite?
i've travelled most of the world, some of my face places are the states and south africa, but i've been lucky enough to visit many beautiful places.
