Aycliffe has 123 hectares of employment land allocated and has the potential to contribute significantly to the economy of the County and provide unique investment opportunities.
Forrest Park is a new 52 hectares employment site being developed on the park and provides the capacity for the location of up to 3,200 jobs.
Nearly 200 businesses have engaged with the Aycliffe Business Park Community business forum since it was launched. for potential new entrants and networking opportunities for local companies.
The organisation is also keen to help companies in the future by supporting the talent of today. It is working with the new University Technical College( UTC) on Aycliffe Business Park, which will be producing the next generation of manufacturers and engineers.
“ When we talk about Aycliffe as a hub for manufacturing and engineering the fact that the UTC is helping the next generation of employees and leaders in that sector is fantastic,” adds Sarah.
“ The college has had such a good response from employers because they recognise how valuable it is to be thinking ahead and training the next generation in the skills you will want to find in your future employees.”
Young people also have the opportunity to mix with potential employers and see how design and manufacturing works at close quarters by taking part in Business Durham’ s Future Business Magnates( FBM) competition.
Now in its 12th year, the competition attracts support from Aycliffe companies and organisations including Ebac, Roman Showers, South Durham Enterprise Agency and South West Durham Training.
“ We always get great support for FBM from businesses in Aycliffe, not just working with the two local Aycliffe schools, but also supporting schools across the county,” adds Sarah.
“ We’ re really grateful to them for helping to inspire the next generation of designers and business owners.
“ And as they grow up, we will be here to help raise the profile of places like Aycliffe and provide the opportunity for businesses to have their voices heard. We’ re committed to working with Aycliffe businesses over the long-term to accelerate their growth and develop long-term sustainability.”
“ Business is about relationships, so finding the right people to meet can make a big difference. This is where we can help”
