WE TAKE A BREAK AND SIT DOWN WITH A DIFFERENT EMPLOYEE OR BUSINESS OWNER TO ASK THEM 20 QUESTIONS ABOUT A VARIETY OF SUBJECTS... In this issue, we sit down with Thrive Marketing creative director Johnny Woods... 6. What do you do? Creative Director for Thrive Marketing or as some people describe it as colouring in, making sure no one goes over the lines! 7. Who have you worked for in the past? Various creative orginisations in Newcastle and a couple of stints working behind bars when I was younger. What was the best part of your job? The best part of the job has to be having the opportunity to create on a daily basis. It’s a great feeling when we have completed a project that we are proud of: something that we have worked on from the ground up and that will have a direct positive impact on the orginisation we are working with. The creative process is one element that I really enjoy being involved in and it allows every day to be different and supplies new challenges and opportunities. Was there anything about your job that you really didn’t like? There is nothing I really don’t like but the financial side of the business is something that I have really had to work at. Numbers and figures are not my strength, it’s just not how my mind works. In the past I would shy away from, or put off, those types of tasks, but as a business owner that is just not possible. I made the conscious decision to try and tackle those elements head on and I am getting better but ‘every day is still a school day’. Favourite thing about working on Aycliffe Business Park? I have worked on a couple of business parks in the past and none have the community ethos that ABP has. The only way you would have a relationship with a business on these other parks is if you had a direct working relationship together. The community ethos around ABP allows you to build relationships with business and and individuals without working together first. This provides some fantastic opportunities, not only from a sales point of view, but gives a great opportunity to understand what businesses and skills are on the park and build a referral network around this knowledge. I actually feel like we are part of a community instead of just a resident. Which company/individual on the park do you do the most work with? This would have to be Stiller Warehousing and Distribution. We have worked with Stiller for several years now, long before we were situated on the park. The team at Stiller is fantastic to work with and appreciates the services we supply, which makes for a strong client/provider relationship, something we value very highly when working with an orginisation. When both parties get on well and have a me they never have. I am not really materialistic at all! If I had to, I would always go for function over form, maybe a good, solid, well looked after Landrover Defender or
