BUSINESS BRIEFS

AYCLIFFE’ S BRIGHT LIGHTS
An energy broker is giving businesses the opportunity to save up to 65 % on their bills after drafting in a Newton Aycliffe team of experts to carry out efficiency checks.
Hartlepool-based Utility Alliance, which set up in 2015 and turned over an impressive £ 1m-worth of contracts in its first year, specialises in consulting with other firms to take a closer look at their energy usage and help make savings as well as lowering their carbon footprint.
To offer an even better service to its customers, the firm has now drafted in a team of experts from Aycliffe-based LED Supply & Fit, who specialise in LED lighting, to further increase Utility Alliance’ s offering to customers.

Ninth Oktoberfest set for the Xcel Centre

Engineering and manufacturing companies are preparing to showcase their capabilities in the region’ s biggest industry shop window.
Durham Oktoberfest, which is now in its ninth year, brings together hundreds of employers under one roof who are given the chance to meet potential customers, buyers and suppliers.
The event was set up to showcase the North East’ s world class capabilities within the engineering and manufacturing sectors and now attracts hundreds of exhibitors and sponsors.
David Land, Chairman of County Durham Engineering and Manufacturing Network( CDEMN) which organises Durham Oktoberfest, said:“ Our region is home to thousands of businesses within the engineering and manufacturing sectors, who between them make a significant contribution to our economy.
“ We want them to continue to grow here in the North East and to do that intertrading is crucial. That’ s why Oktoberfest is so important, as it brings together employers of all sizes who are given the chance to promote their services and, more importantly, secure new contracts.
“ Each year we hear from companies who have grown as a direct result of attending Oktoberfest, companies like EDM Zone, Altec, E-MAX Systems and Dyer Engineering, who have seen their client portfolio expand
“ The calibre of businesses that attend is particularly high and I think that’ s why so many employers from the region support it.”
because of introductions they’ ve made at the event.”
Darlington-based E-Max Systems joined over 150 other firms at Durham Oktoberfest, the annual networking event which celebrates the North East’ s world class engineering and manufacturing strengths and capabilities.
E-Max has exhibited at the event every year since 2009 and believes it is a must for companies who are keen to meet potential suppliers and customers.
Commercial Director Zeynel Badak said:“ We have won numerous contracts as a result of Durham Oktoberfest over the years.
“ It really is the perfect platform for us as we know we’ ll have the opportunity to meet businesses who could potentially become our customers – and that’ s why we come back every year.
“ The calibre of businesses that attend is particularly high and I think that’ s why so many employers from the region support it. We will certainly be back next year and would urge other employers to do the same.”
Durham Oktoberfest 2016 takes place on Thursday, October 20, at the Xcel Centre in Newton Aycliffe and already dozens of businesses have booked their exhibition space.
