NEW OPERATIONS MANAGER AT TEKMAR
Tekmar Energy has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Barry Cooper as operations manager.
Bringing more than 15 years of experience in the offshore sector, Barry has served in several senior management and leadership roles in businesses including Technip Umbilicals, GE Wellstream and more recently, DeepOcean.
In his new role, Barry will be responsible for all operations working closely within the Senior Management Team to ensure products are manufactured to the highest quality, processes are efficient, and the history of excellence in quality and safety is further enhanced.
BETTER HEALTH AT WORK AWARDS
The County Durham Better Health at Work Awards ceremony took place at the Ramside Hall Hotel and Spa to celebrate businesses in County Durham who have successfully achieved the Better Health at Work Award( BHAWA).
A total of 32 businesses and 164 employees attended the ceremony organised by Newton Aycvliffe-based Pioneering Care Partnership( PCP), which manages the County Durham sub region of the North East BHAWA.
The ceremony was hosted by Lee Mack, Head of Service Health Improvement at County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust( CDDFT) who work in partnership with PCP to deliver the award across County Durham.
£ 17m YOUTH EMPLOYMENT BOOST
Up to 6,000 young people are to benefit after Durham County Council secured £ 17m to help them on their pathway to employment.
In June 2015, the authority submitted a bid for £ 17.04m funding through the European Council’ s Youth Employment Initiative( YEI).
And now the DurhamWorks project has been given the green light for a twoand-a-half-year programme to develop skills and increase opportunities for 16 to 24-year-olds living in County Durham, who are not in education, employment or training.

Happy Birthday Tees Business!

Aycliffe Today’ s sister magazine, Tees Business, celebrated its first birthday during a special event held at Middlesbrough College.
Teesside’ s only business publication, which was launched early 2015, has already proved to be a hugely-popular magazine.
Around 50 clients and supporters gathered for a special birthday event at the college’ s STEM Centre in Middlesbrough.
Guests enjoyed a buffet lunch, a speciallymade Tees Business birthday cake and a presentation from Middlesbrough College chief executive Zoe Lewis.

The first in-depth survey of business banking by the North East Chamber of Commerce( NECC) and Smart Money People has revealed that businesses are moderately satisfied with their banks, but high account charges and slow account opening processes are a concern.
Having taken the pulse of 209 North East businesses, the survey found although business banking received a 71 % overall satisfaction rating, just 19 % of all businesses reported receiving a good or excellent level of customer service, demonstrating there is still
